LA1.3 Housing Allocations - All Grange-over-Sands sites
2.1 Do you consider that the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD is sound?
No
2.2 If NO please identify which test of soundness your representation relates to by selecting the relevant option(s) below and completing section 2.3.
The DPD is not justified in that it is not founded on a robust and credible evidence base and/or is not considered the most appropriate strategy when considered against the reasonable alternatives.
2.3 Please give details of the change(s) you consider necessary to make the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD sound, having regard to the test you have identified at question 2.2 above.
It would be helpful if you could state your proposed change to the DPD and the reasons why you think it is necessary.
Re. Proposed development at Grange, Kents Bank & Allithwaite
I wish to register my complete opposition, to what I consider to
be at best, an imprudent proposal to essentially join up the three
areas, with no thought or consideration for the unique quality
of this historic coastal resort and it's residents.
Why anyone would want to overdevelop such a place is hard to
devise. There is no work here, which would meet the needs of the new
householders, and their subsequent travel to work will add to the
already dangerous traffic conditions on the A590.
Creating new large developments, far away from any source of
work is highly objectionable if not unethical, these days. Fuel prices
are rocketing, and you condemn a new generation to using more fuel
with the ecological impact this will generate.
Property for sale is already at a high in. this area, with no prospect
of selling, and this plan has blighted, and damped off the natural
property market already.
No-one here wants this plan, or can see any genuine need for it.
Without a change to this plan, there will be a strong and determined
oppostion to prevent it's implementation.
