LA1.3 Housing Allocations - All Grange-over-Sands sites
2.1 Do you consider that the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD is sound?
No
2.3 Please give details of the change(s) you consider necessary to make the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD sound, having regard to the test you have identified at question 2.2 above.
It would be helpful if you could state your proposed change to the DPD and the reasons why you think it is necessary.
I am writing re. the proposed development of Kents Bank and
Allithwaite, which will result in the integration of these areas
into Grange itself.
It is a plan which lacks any concern for the character of this
mainly Edwardian coastal area, whose history is, in itself quite
remarkable. Turning it into yet another boring modern town
is appalling, and sadly once undertaken, cannot be reversed,
so I urge you to think long and hard, before you attempt to go
down this road.
The plan is utterly disliked by almost everyone here, so I cannot
understand how the council can simply force it on us ?
Our council should be responding to local needs, not builders greed.
This is after all, our town, and it is greatly loved and appreciated.
Local occupancy cannot be used to justify such a massive development.
There are many cheaper, saner, and more harmonious ways to
cope with the very small local demand.
Has it also escaped the notice of the planners that the number of
houses for sale in Grange is already high and rising, and that Grange
lacks the jobs and infrastructure for this massive influx of people ?
The most massive thing the council needs to do now, is to have a
massive rethink, and I look forward to hearing that this foolish proposal has been scrapped.

2.1 Do you consider that the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD is sound?
No
2.2 If NO please identify which test of soundness your representation relates to by selecting the relevant option(s) below and completing section 2.3.
The DPD is not justified in that it is not founded on a robust and credible evidence base and/or is not considered the most appropriate strategy when considered against the reasonable alternatives.
