LA3.2 Mixed Use Allocation at Land South of Allithwaite Road, Kent's Bank, Grange-over-Sands
2.1 Do you consider that the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD is sound?
No
2.2 If NO please identify which test of soundness your representation relates to by selecting the relevant option(s) below and completing section 2.3.
The DPD is not justified in that it is not founded on a robust and credible evidence base and/or is not considered the most appropriate strategy when considered against the reasonable alternatives.
2.3 Please give details of the change(s) you consider necessary to make the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD sound, having regard to the test you have identified at question 2.2 above.
It would be helpful if you could state your proposed change to the DPD and the reasons why you think it is necessary.
I am writing to protest over the proposed building plans for Allithwaite Rd at Grange. I shall be brief. My points are:
1. There are almost 150 properties for sale in Grange at this time, so I cannot see a need for any substantial amount of new properties in this area.
2. The loss of the gap twixt Risedale and Allithwaite would be a big mistake, as it is a well and nicely defined 'Green Gap', and wildlife transit route.
3. The traffic would surely become a problem as entry onto the B5277 along this section would be hazardous, given the speeds used along this road.
4. Pedestrians crossing from the northbound side of the B5277 to Carter Rd would be more disadvantaged, as the sighting is not very good, and a lot of drivers go faster than the 30 mph limit. This is especially dangerous for the very young, and the slow 'oldies'.
I hope you will take note of these solid and valid points, which are the opinion of many people I have talked with over this issue.
