LA1.3 Housing Allocations - All Grange-over-Sands sites
2.1 Do you consider that the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD is sound?
No
2.3 Please give details of the change(s) you consider necessary to make the South Lakeland District Council Land Allocations DPD sound, having regard to the test you have identified at question 2.2 above. It would be helpful if you could state your proposed change to the DPD and the reasons why you think it is necessary.
Please accept this email as the strongest opposition to the proposed new housing developments in Grange and especially Kents Bank.
Also please inform me as to how I can log on to the green-space.org petition to voice my opinion as I found the SLDC consulting process to be unduly hard to follow.
I have been visiting Kents Bank for over 20 yrs and find it to be a very relaxing, quiet, easy going and stress free community, much as you would find in a sleepy Devon village!
However on my latest visit I was horrified to see the way the the council has decimated the Lime trees along the Methven Terrace section of Kents Bank Rd as well as the increase in double decker buses which not only went up Kirkhead Rd but clogged up Allithwaite village. There is a perfectly good 532 single decker service, which is 100
% adequate.
I suspect the reasons for the above are that the council is putting in place the infrastructurefor the proposed plan for increasing the population of the Grange area, followed then by BOOTHS Supermarket and the end of local family run shops plus a decline inevitably in the tourist and therefore the hotel trade.
Ecologically (destroying the natural habitat) and aesthetically(destroying the natural environment) your council is ruining your fine Edwardian heritage and I for one would seriously think twice before recommending it again as a place to visit.
With regard to those persons responsible for this aesthetic and ecological destruction,I only hope that in 20 or so years time when you are asked by your children/grand-children what Grange was like in years gone by and why has it changed, that you can justify and feel proud of your achievements...
I will be around in 2025 to hear your views and how you reflect on the decisions you made now.
