Please explain your reasons
R41 is not suitable for development and should be removed as an option for housing for the following reasons:
1. Access to this piece of land is only potentially possible at the north end i.e. via Moss Lane, a very narrow (single track)piece of road that rises quite steeply from the A6. Turning into the lane from the A6 is extremely dangerous, especially as it is on a bend. There is no prospect of widening Moss Lane due to buildings on either side.
2. Pedestrian and traffic Safety. Due to the volume of traffic on the A6 (built as a by-pass for Heversham and Leasgill)it is very dangerous turning on to this road from Moss Lane. Traffic leaving site R41 would therefore have to turn into the village from Moss Lane. This T-junction, opposite Heversham Church, is already very dangerous. There is no footpath for about 100 meters and the road cannot be widened due to boundary walls on either side. It is a main bus route, the corner is blind and the road is narrow. The elderly, families and children walking in the village would be put at even greater risk by additional traffic caused by any development of R41.
3. Conservation Area. The centre of Heversham, around the church, has been recognised as a conservation area, and this has recently been extended right to the boundary of site R41. Any development of this site would have a detrimental effect to this, the oldest area of the village. The public view of the centre of the village from the A6, including the houses and St Peter's Church, would be spoiled by a new development here.
4. Nature of the village. Heversham and Leasgill are linear villages, separated from the A6 by a band of green fields. If site R41 were developed this special characteristic would be spoiled and have a detrimental effect on rural nature of the villages.
