The residential proposals will create a considerable volume of traffic within an already busy residential area of town with the consequent risk of accident increased pollution and noise. In addition there are green areas adjoining these roads where children play.
The roads leading to this area (Greenside, Queens Road, Beast Banks & Gillinggate) are already congested and the obstruction of normal parked vehicleswould develop into a major problem with the increased flow of traffic. Speeding vehicles, already a problem would become more numerous.
To site a residential area at the top of a long and steep climb from town would necessitate the use of vehicles since only the fittest would be able to cycle or walk (wit shopping) to and from this area. Also the heavy vehicles turning off the bypass would present a hazard for anybody who did walk or cycle.
