Please explain your reasons
I am in fvaour of more affordable housing (e.g. At central sites Auction Mart and the Cock and Dolphin) but not at site R129M for the following main environmental reasons:
Distance from and and height above the town centre and the bus routes (44 and 46 at Queen's Road) means that inhabitants will probably use their cars.
The energy consumption will be compounded by the steepness of the hill.
Any increase in traffic on the relatively narrow access roads will cause major pollution, noise, and tail-backs in Queen's Rd, Gillinggate, Ctn French lane (which already gets heavy use due to satnavs)and in particular in Beast Banks/Allhallows Lane.
This will put major strain on the traffic flow into Lowther St and produce comparable poor air quality problems.
The destruction of the natural green habitats of the fields and boundaries will adversely affect both wildlife and the visual aspect of the unspoilt approach into Old Kendal down Greenside, a conservation area.
Any new development should be sited within practical walking distance of the town centre, esp at a time of escalating costs of and targets to reduce consumption of energy.
Do you think that your area needs new or improved community facilities? If so, what sort of facilities and where?
Please explain the types of improved and/or new community facilities your community may need in the next 15 years
Yes. Kendal needs -
more allotments as the present waiting list means a significant delay in getting one, and the desire to grow one's own is increasing.
Park and Ride scheme to discourage people from bringing their cars into town.

I am opposed to the relocation of waste recyling from its convenient present Canal Head site close to the town centre to the Quarry site further away, up a steep hill, approached by narrow residential roads entirely unsuited to carrying increased traffic. (Queen's Road, Gillinggate, Beast Banks and Allhallows Lane. )
The problems of traffic tailbacks and air pollution at the Town hall traffic lights/Lowther St will be compounded and people may indeed be deterred from recycling because of the inconvenience. This plus the added consumption of energy( petrol) due to the steep hill might well increase our carbon footprint rather than help Kendal meet its targets of recycling and energy reduction.

I am opposed to siting an employment area at this site because the residential access roads are too narrow and steep for commercial, industrial and construction traffic and are already suffering from the present heavy traffic causing unacceptable noise and air pollution and traffic congestion - Gillinggate, Beast Banks and Allhallows Lane.
Any such development should be sited within easy access of the main roads.
Kendal needs more employment opportunities but also to preserve the quality of life of its residents and the environment.
