Please explain your reasons
RN109M (Cross-a-Moor) would further split the village and result in a separate estate (even the Trinkeld Estates are virtually a separate entity to Swarthmoor as only a footpath gives access) School allocation at Pennington School would favour the new development, being closer, and would mean the people, many of whom, have been born & raised on the village would have to take their children elsewhere. Traffic problems at this junction woiuld be horrendous.
R684SW (Kingsley Avenue) The junction is dangerous enough now, and would be considerably more so if the development went ahead. It can take considerable time and risk to cross the A590 at this junction. Also once again, the village would be split.
R686SW (Park Road) Housing here would be preferable as, with two junctions - one into Park Road (giving access to village facilities) and another onto Main Road (giving access to the A590 or Urswick Road) would be less hazardous. Also the catchment area for schools would be Croftlands or Ulverston, not Pennington, so easing the possibility of over subscibing at Pennington.
A retail store at the end nearest the Football Club would be a welcome addition as there are presently no shops and would be a place where all factions of the villagers (both present & future) would meet up thereby getting to know each other & contributing to the social aspect.
RN105, RN106 (Main Road) Another good option, no direct access to the A590, but would filter between the A590 junction, Urswick Road, or Park Road thro' Swarthmoor. Pennington School allocation could pose a problem.
My main concerns with all the sites is the splitting up of the village.
Do you think that your area needs new or improved community facilities? If so, what sort of facilities and where?
Please explain the types of improved and/or new community facilities your community may need in the next 15 years
Definitely needs a Village Store/newsagency & preferably also a post office. It is a long walk to the nearest shop, or a busride into Ulverston or Barrow with the problem for the elderly and those without transport,of carrying heavy bags.
