Responses to Land Allocations - comments about suggested site allocations
Response from Mr Clive Richardson (Individual)

Housing
Oppose
Please explain your reasons
Although the need for additional housing in Swarthmoor is questionable, the proposed sites of R684SW and RN109M would increasingly split the village in two halves with one of the busiest roads in Cumbria running through the middle. Even if traffic lights or a roundabout were installed, the A590 is currently struggling to cope with traffic volumes, especially at peak times, and the Kingsley Avenue exit could not cope with the traffic from another 30 houses. The proposed housing development would also encroach into open countryside, spoiling an area of great natural beauty, when there are clearly more appropriate local sites for development including R685SW.
Notes on the map that has been provided
If new housing development is necessary, by using site R685SW, adjacent to Park Road, the housing could be contained on one side of the A590 rather than sprawling out onto open agricultural land with implications for the countryside and environmental issues.
