Please explain your reasons
I oppose the proposals for developing R41 on the following issues.

Village Character.
Ever since Leasgill and Heversham were "by-passed" by Princes Way in 1927, the villages and A6 have been separated by pasture. This shows off the characteristic linear development of both communities - a feature which has developed over centuries and one reason why parts are considered worthy of conservation. Any development within the pasture land would destroy this historic aspect forever and completely alter the villages character and appearance.

Village Safety
It is proposed that access to R41 be via the road known as Moss Lane, at the north end of the area. Traffic volume would innevitably increase in this narrow lane. Exit from Moss Lane onto the A6 is perilous with restricted view in both directions. These views are further restricted by long grasses on the verge throughout Spring and Summer. Within the last few years I understand that the Highways Department were considering changing this stretch of Moss Lane into a one-way road for this very reason.
Planning permission for a bowling green on R41 was also declined in November 1994 because of concerns over access difficulties and safety issues.
Exiting onto the old A6 at the east end of Moss lane is also not without its dangers. The old A6 bends around the church at this junction and where the road through the village is probably at its narrowest. This is a bus route and the pathless thoroughfare is regularly used by pedestrians and school children going to and from Dallam School and St Peters School. Pupils from St Peters regularly used this route to access the swimming and sports facilities at Dallam. Moss Lane itself is narrow and will only allow single file traffic.

Conservation Considerations
At least 90% of the East boundary of R41 is conservation area and as such, views to and from this area should continue to be protected and preserved. The slope from the village to the A6 at R41 is shallow so that any building on R41 will inevitably obstruct views across the area.
