Please explain your reasons
I would like to oppose any development of these areas of land (ref: M41KM & E4M) for the following reasons:

1) Loss of existing attractive approach to Kendal from the South
These areas of land border one of the main access roads into Kendal from the South. (M41KM is a particularly prominent and steeply sloping area.) Together they provide visitors and commuters alike with a pleasant unspoilt welcome to the town. To build on this land would have a huge visual impact, totally out of keeping with the existing development in the surrounding area. Any development of this site would surely ruin this ‘Gateway to Kendal’.

This was also the view of the Inspector, Mr P Whitehead in the South Lakeland Local Plan 2006 Enquiry and I don’t believe that circumstances have changed to warrant a reversal of his decision at that time.

2) Suitability of site
The steeply sloping nature of the field proposed for M41KM would make any development highly prominent and dominant over existing residential areas on Lumley Road and Kentspark/Bellingham Road areas.

3) Increase in traffic and strain on local infrastructure
Milnthorpe Road into Kendal is already very busy and to increase traffic in this area, so near the junction with the A590, could only have an adverse effect on the whole situation. Any new entrance to either site from Milnthorpe Road could only cause additional traffic problems, on an already busy stretch of road.

Areas to the north of the town (particularly off Appleby Road) have been identified for similar development; use of which would not have the same detrimental impact on a busy approach to the town and with much better local services to support future development.
