Oppose
Please explain your reasons
Reason against proposal
1. Employment in the area does not warrant the level of new housing
2. The area is prone to flooding
3. The sewerage drains on Urswick Road are already overloaded, we already have to put up with smells coming from the drains, any increase in the draining system would be intolerable
4. Traffic on Urswick Road is already excessive; any additional housing in this area would generate an increase in what is already a very busy route due to it being a route between Croftlands and the A590. Would the road be improved to accommodate extra traffic – I doubt it
5. This piece of land in question belongs to the Quakers, who I am led to believe do not wish it to be developed
6. Swarthmoor Hall Farm farms this land, and to build on it would affect the livelihood of the farmer and his staff, with the unemployment level high would possibly add to this
7. I bought my house on Urswick Road, in 2007, one of the main reasons was for the views, which building a new housing development on Urswick Road, would dramatically affect that view. The price paid reflected that (I could have bought one with a garage on the croftlands estate for less)
8. There are already a large number of unsold houses in ulverston without the need to build more
