Please explain your reasons
1. This is a green field site and no brownfield sites in the village have been considered. I can think of 3 without really trying (next to Railway station, telephone exchange and the abandoned garages on Ashleigh Road).
2. There is considerable local opposition to this site and a petition against of over 90 signatures has already been submitted.
3. The traffic situation at the junction of Redhills Road and Silverdale Road is already poor and will be made worse. According to your officer at the local consultation day the Highways dept. have said no objection to the 2 proposed exits (one on Redhills road and one on Lawrence Drive but no questions were asked about the above junction.
4. The sewerage system will need a survey and an upgrade. Who will pay for this?
5. This is locally known as common land and it’s current green field status enhances this part of the village.
5. An ancient hedge on the site has been neglected – it should be restored not covered in concrete.
6. Other sites in the village are listed as being 3km from shops – this is incorrect meaning the 0.5km against this site unfairly favours it in this respect.
7. The site floods in really wet weather.
8. The non foul water system (sorry don’t know correct name) is insufficient resulting in a flooded road at the eastern end of Redhills Road (junction with Inglemere Drive) and despite many communications with councillors remains an ongoing problem. More concrete and more houses can only exacerbate this.
9. There are currently 75 properties for sale within 1 mile of the centre of the village (Rightmove 5.4.11). Why do we need more.
10. Anyone living at R81 would almost certainly have to travel to a larger centre for work, further depleting world resources and adding to greenhouse gases.
11. For every “affordable” property developers would be allowed to build 3 “non-affordable”.
Strange logic when the objective is affordable homes.
12. The development of R81 would mean my bees could not fly out over this area (as they do currently). It would cease to be a bee-friendly site.
Do you think that your area needs new or improved community facilities? If so, what sort of facilities and where? Please explain the types of improved and/or new community facilities your community may need in the next 15 years
A new car park near/on the promenade.
