Please explain your reasons
We strongly object to the proposed development of this land for residential use as follows:
Site Suitability
The proposed development site has a significant gradient. Surface water is already a problem creating a flood threat to existing dwellings at the foot of the down slope.
Access
One proposed access point from Oxenholme Road via Hayclose Crescent is already prone to heavy congestion. Attempts to halt commuter parking on Oxenholme Road have only resulted in train travellers parking further into the Kendal Parks Estate. This, coupled with narrow roads, creates a dangerous environment for both motorists and pedestrians. Furthermore, emergency vehicle access on some occasions would be extremely restricted.
MORE HOUSES - MORE TRAFFIC - MORE CONGESTION - MORE DANGER!
Privacy
The steep slope of the proposed development site would have a huge impact on our privacy. New homes would directly overlook ours. The current open aspect was a main feature of our purchase which would be severely compromised should this development go ahead.
Open Space
A major part of Kendal’s appeal is its ‘green space’ status. Further development of green field options would result in extended urbanisation to the detriment of the town. Brown field sites should be given further, more immediate consideration - KEEP OUR FIELDS GREEN!
