Please explain your reasons
Building 41 houses on these fields would spoil the entrance to the village coming from the North, it would impact greatly on the surrounding houses.
One of these fields (R21) floods when there is heavy rain due to run off water from the road.
The road infrastructure to support this development is totally inadequate with very narrow country roads between Allithwaite and Cartmel which have no pavements and which people regularly walk.
The main route to the A590 is also along this road and there are places that two cars cannot pass never mind anything bigger.
School children cycle along this road on their way to and from the local secondary school in Cartmel.
The alternative route to the A590 would be through the village which due to the increased amount of roadside parking over the years has effectively made this route a single lane. It is already very congested in the morning, evening and school times and the potential huge increase in volume would make the village virtually impassable.
R69M has running across it linking 2 roads a public footpath which is very well used by walking groups and ramblers as it is part of a favourite route that provides great views of the Lakeland fells. It is also a favourite with local people from the village who use the path to exercise both themselves and their dogs.
Children and adults use these fields for sledging in the winter months.
Following 2 consultations arranged by the Parish council and the Village Plan steering group which in total 322 people attended the consensus was that the type of development for Allithwaite was for linear development or small estates comprising of no more than 15 houses.
Since the land allocation proposals become public there has been land offered all around the village which would have achieved the local communities wishes and would allow local developers and builders opportunities.
These type of developments would be more in keeping with the natural development of a village rather than an urban model being placed on a rural location.
