Oppose
Please explain your reasons
I oppose the relocation of Canal Head recycling on the grounds of impact on traffic on Gillinggate which is a residential area and school access. The road is already overused particularly by heavy vehicles which cannot pass due to necessary resident parking. Gillinggate is not wide enough for heavy traffic and I have regularly seen vehicles mounting the pavement to avoid vehicles traveling in the opposite direction. This is a real danger to local pedestrians, school children and cyclists. The relocation of recycling from Canal Head will increase traffic on Gillinggate to the detriment of noise to residents and to safety of road users and pedestrians. Access to recycling to Canal Head from the one-way system does not currently impact on residential areas whereas the proposed change would. The relocation would be less convenient for Kendal residents and might well increase overall road miles required by users.
