These fields form the boundary between Kendal Town and the countryside. To build on them will be an encroachment on land that is valuable to animal and bird life.
By building on these fields water will not drain as well as at present and on wet days water will cause flooding on the lower land on Brigsteer Road.
The landfill is only a few yards from this proposed development and building houses this close appears to be contrary to the 1999 EU directive on Landfills which has been adopted by the British Government.
Greenside is not suitable for heavy traffic and there is a 7.5 tonne weight limit. A nursery school exits onto Greenside which is a dangerous exit already and more traffic will increase this problem. I myself have had two near miss collisions recently with people exiting from the nursery school due to the poor visibility.
Traffic from the proposed housing development is bound to flow to the centre of Kendal either through Beast Banks or Gillinggate thereby further exacerbating the traffic congestion problems and high levels of exhaust fume pollution in Lowther Street.

I oppose this proposal because it is too near to the existing landfill (please refer to 1999 EU directive)and also too close to the `national park.
Traffic would increase down Greenside and would add to existing traffic congestion problems in the town centre. There is already a weight limit on Greenside for vehicles.
