Please explain your reasons
This development is against the wishes of the majority of existing Bowston residents. Increased traffic along the access road which is a designated cycle route- the main one to access the National Park, avoiding the dangerous A591 between Kendal and Stavely. the route is very heavily used by both local cyclists and tourists. There are already many problems due to parking along the bend around Winstanley Place and more traffic will exacerbate the problem. There are problems also already at the various junctions of roads out of Burneside and the A591 with traffic wishing to join the very busy road.
The site is also unsuitable for affordable housing as it is too rural, too far from buses, shops employment and will result in considerably more traffic.
There is already a socio economic imbalance in the Burneside area as detailed in 2008 LDF. This results in social problems and more affordable housing will exacerbate thes problems.
What does 'affordable houding' mean? Does this specifically target local residents? Why should non locals be allowed to accupy these affordable homes? There are already many empty houses in Kendal which could be bought by housing associations and made abailable to local residents.
This is unnecessary destruction of a green field, resulting in loss of wildlife habitat, loss of native hedgerow, increased light pollution, further water run off into the Kent and the loss of a tributary of the Kent which is an SSSI area providing habitat for the white clawed crayfish - an endangered species.
More hard landscaping will further increase problems of flooding. The sewerage system is already inadequate and cannot service more houses.
Why ccannot empty brown field sites be used instead of destroying yet more green fields.
The loss or movement of the sport facilites in Burneside is not acceptable. Where can the courts and playing fields, which are heavily used be moved to? These are extremely important facilities for the residents of Burneside
