Please explain your reasons
I object to any development on this site because:
a) the view across the field, over the valley to the distant Whitbarrow Scar is exceptional and enjoyed by villagers, walkers (en route to Brigsteer Wood), cyclists (on Lancaster / Kendal cycle way) and visitors on route between the historic buildings of Levens Hall and Sizergh Castle.
b)the vista was described as 'landscape of importance to Cumbria' in a previous study.
c)the view down the valley with the village in the foreground and Morecambe Bay in the background is outatanding when approaching the village from the North and North East. A housing development would ruin that vista.
d) access to the site would necessiate the widening of Brigsteer Road which would change the whole character of the village (presently all approach roads are single track).
e)due to the severe slope of the site building affordable homes would be difficult and any high rise development would completely overshadow the village and be out of chacater.
f)the swathe of land naturally separates the hamlets of Levens and Cotes.
g)development on a site of natural beauty is unnecessary given available alternatives.
Notes on the map that has been provided
If development is required brown field sites should be considered before any green field sites. Site reference RN121M is proposed for business development but given the restricted access and distance from any form of public transport is more suitable for domestic development and added to RN121 (also brown field) would be a more sensible proposition.
