Please explain your reasons
We feel the site is inappropriate for the proposed development. The development does not meet the requirements on the Land Allocation Development Plan Document. The proposed site has a major impact on the surrounding landscape, does not maintain a compact form for the village and we cannot see how this complements Burton's historic form. In addition there are practical problems regarding this site listed below.
Access-Morewood Drive is not suitable given the location of the primary school which results in traffic chaos every morning and afternoon and any additional traffic(construction/residents) is likely to result in a fatal accident as well as traffic pollution for the children at the school. There is a disabled parking space outside the school and with one vehicle legally parked in this space it would block Morewood Drive to all lorries/delivery vehicles as they would have to mount the pavement to pass this obstruction which would be illegal and very dangerous. Also in the planning document the aim is to promote housing for the elderly and given the gradient of Morewood Drive any elderly residents would find themselves trapped in their homes (especially during winter months).
Drainage-the present drainage capacity would be insufficient for any new properties as twice over the last three weeks there is water pooling at the bottom of Morewood Drive during rainfall as the present drains cannot cope.
We therefore do not feel that any development at the top of Morewood Drive is appropriate and does not meet the local development plan.
