Please explain your reasons
Site no R30 is one of four emerging sites (R21,R69,R30,R343) situated at the northern end of the village of Allithwaite. I do wonder if any thought or consideration has been given to any of these emerging developments. Has anyone considered that all traffic to and from these new developments will have to travel along Church Road which is already congested with cars parked outside people's homes? Vehicles travelling down Church road have to drive on the wrong side of the road, taking the risk of being in collision with vehicles coming in the opposite direction. Any increase in traffic to and from developments in the north of Allithwaite would be a danger to young children who attend the primary school on Church road.

If access to and from R30 is to be gained from Fellside onto Wart Barrow Lane, it has to be noted that this lane is very narrow with no pavements or street lighting. It is not suitable for the volume of traffic which would be coming and going to any new developments. At present vehicles have to pull into the side to allow traffic from the other direction to pass. Tractors, delivery vehicles etc. often have to reverse to allow other vehicles to pass.

Concerning the site itself, a large part of it is on a steep slope with a small flat area at the bottom. Concerns have been expressed about utilities and services to the site, particularly mains drains as most of the existing properties around the site have septic tanks.

As all the surrounding properties are mainly bungalows, I would hope that if any development was to take place on this site that the properties would be of similar design, not two/three storey houses ( I would hope that lessons have been learned from the Greendales development in Allithwaite).

I feel that there are more suitable sites to the south of the village that would not have so much of an impact ie. site nos. RN77 & RN78 behind the Guide over Sands public house or site no. RN230# to the south of Quarry lane which has now been put forward for development. All of these sites could give direct access on to the main through road.

If South Lakeland District Council has to build new houses, why build them in an area where there are no amenities, no employment and the nearest supermarkets, leisure centres, petrol stations and hospitals are many miles away. Allithwaite has one PO/village store and the junior school is, I believe, already oversubscribed with local children being placed on a waiting list. We do need to keep our villages rural and not turn them into small towns.

I strongly object to the proposed emerging or suggested sites in Allithwaite.

Do you think that your area needs new or improved community facilities? If so, what sort of facilities and where? Please explain the types of improved and/or new community facilities your community may need in the next 15 years
