The site (R395M),presently well used for agricultrual purposes, is located on a steep roaod (Briery Bank) which takes traffic to a substantial proportion of the residential areas of Arnside and also through to Silverdale. It is well used by commercial and agricultural vehicles rightly avoiding Arnside centre and promenade. It is also a bus route. The corner of the proposed site for housing is on a blind corner on the steepest part of the road. It is already dangerous with vehicles driving down the road around this blind corner. To develop the site for housing would necessitate more vehicles entering the road at the most dangerous and least visible point. It would seem extraordinarily unwise to allow such development.

The site adjascent to the railway line is part of the flood plain taking run-off water coming down from the higher ground on the oppposite side of Blackdyke Road, especailly when, as is often the case, the normal road drains are unable to cope with the volume of water. Not only would any property on the field be liable to flooding but all experience shows (e.g. Shrewsbury Bridgnorth, Worcester) that building development on flood plains creates major problems when water is displaced elsewhere. Cumbrian experience of flooding demonstrates the foolhardy nature of any decision to build on sites such as this.
Do you think that your area needs new or improved community facilities? If so, what sort of facilities and where? Please explain the types of improved and/or new community facilities your community may need in the next 15 years
A car park for Arnside railway station for the specific use of rail users (tourists are moderately well catered for by the existing free parking facilties.
