New Hutton Parish Council held an open meeting on 21st February which was attended by 33 people, 11% of the adult population of the parish and thus deemed to be well supported. The meeting was about issues raised in the parish during the recent parish plan process, one being the matter of site RN182. There was a unanimous vote against inclusion of the field in the Land Allocation document as it was felt that development of the field for housing would dominate the village and change its character. There are currently no sewerage services, school or public transport through the village. There is also no major need for affordable housing in the parish. Even one of the owners of the field was opposed to its inclusion in the document!

The meeting was also concerned that this field was cited in a previous allocation exercise when it was rejected unanimously. The meeting voted, again unanimously, for the field not to be included in any future allocation exercises.
