SF106 is currently for educational use and should be recognised as such. The "green gap" has no functional meaning. Ackenthwaite is in reality a part of Milnthorpe with no independent services based there. If there is to be further housing development in the Milnthorpe area then the school would need to grow in the future and this would necessarily be into the area designated as a green gap, although governors have no plans currently to do so.

Dallam Charitable Trust owns the field at the back of the school as well as the school grounds and buildings. Trustees support the development of the field for residential use. The school has transferred its main activities to its Milnthorpe site and the field is now surplus to requirements. The school could provide additional access to any development through its grounds from the main road if required.
Similarly, the school has much reduced parking needs for its Heversham site and what need there is would be better met on the school site rather than across the road. The existing car park could therefore be made available for residential development.
I made both of these points in my July 2008 response
