1.The proposed use of land for housing at reference M41KM [Helsington Laithes/Lumley Road] will detract from the attractive approach into Kendal. The land is a steeply sloping site which would set the houses very high above the road therefore dominating the landscape. In the past, the land has been deemed too steep to build on.How has this changed?
2.Proposals for other sites in the town have included an intention to play close attention to screening and a sensitive approach to the appearance of any development. Why are no such conditions attached to the Helsington/Lumley Road proposals? Surely this is one of the most attractive sites in the town which would need very careful consideration given to screening and scale of development.
3. There is no mention of the problems of waste water treatment to the south of Kendal. The current WWTW are inadequate and in an inappropriate place on a residential site. The people who live in the Wattsfield area suffer from the stench of sewage on a regular basis. This is unacceptable. The WWTW need moving to a larger site as a matter of urgency before any development can be considered in the south Kendal area. This problem has not been addressed in the proposals for development. Why not?

1. If this site adjacent, to Scroggs Wood, is to be considered for development as an employment area consideration must be given to adequate screening from the A591 and the A6/ Milnthorpe road approach into Kendal.
2. Where would the site access be? Would adjustments be made to the exsisting A591/A6 roundabout junction as egress onto Milnthorpe Road would be both dangerous and difficult.
3.Have the problems of waste water been adequately considered? The current WWTW at Wattsfield are totally inadequate. Could the site accommodate a new, enlarged WWTW?
4. How many jobs are likely to be created at the site?
5. Do we need another employment area? Would it not be more practical to expand the exsisting employment areas?
