Please explain your reasons
I'd like to make the following points in respect of all the above sites, in addition to my previous comments. No plan for access to the sites has been outlined.
One possibility that might be raised in the future is a route following the line of the footpath behind the houses on the west side of Burneside Road, between the existing access to the Briarrigg estate and site R148. As this corridor of land comes to a dead end at site 148, it was clearly left with some purpose other than serving existing dwellings.
In my view, an access road down this route would be conmpletely inappropriate. Such a road would pass very close behind a large number of households who would not benefit from it, as their homes already front onto roads. We live on Burneside road: noise from the estate is amplified by the slope and valley topography, and would mean that we and many others had road noise both from the front and the back. If such a road linked to access points at both ends, it would provide a "cut through" round the hill that would attract non-residential traffic. Constructing such a road would almost certainly involve cutting into the slope at the bottom of the hill. As this is made of boulder clay, there is a serious risk of subsidence to properties on the hillside above.
I believe these issues underline the general point that the above sites should not be allocated, unless it is clearly established that a satisfactory solution to the access problem is possible. This would involve giving a reasonable amount of detail on how access could work.
